The UK Research and Innovation's Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has funded a new initiative called the Digital Fashion Network (DFN) project.
On October 26th 2023, DFN held its inaugural industry-academia workshop at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology in Bangladesh. This full-day event marked the official kickoff of the network that aims to spearhead connections and digital innovation across the fashion industry.
This workshop brought together over 25 leading academics and fashion professionals, with some key highlights including morning sessions at BGMEA University, an afternoon program led by DFN lead researcher Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, and attendees from major brands and textile mills like Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd. There were also engaging discussions on topics like 3D digital design, virtual try-on technology, sustainability, and the metaverse.

They also hosted an inaugural webinar, “The Digitalisation of Textiles,” in December 2023, which as a pioneering collaborative initiative supported by the UKRI, the DFN hosted this online session exploring how advanced technologies like digital twins of textiles are enhancing sustainability, agility, and connectivity across fashion and textile supply chains.
