Another article has been written by Pankhuri Agarwal, Nandita Dutta and Vivek Soundararajan regarding the current climate of Leicestershire’s textile and manufacturing industry. The article includes discussion about the 2020 summer Boohoo scandal, the effect that it has had and the closure of many factories, having “created more harm than good”, they state.
“Removing those jobs without having replacement positions readily available made bad situations worse. During our research, we met ex-workers who had been pushed to the brink by unemployment, the lockdowns, and the cost-of-living crisis”.
